WHAT IS REQUIRED OF A GUARDIAN?
At Flair Doodles, we take the well-being of our dogs very seriously. That’s why we have a thorough selection process for guardian homes to ensure that our puppies are provided with a safe and loving environment.
While the requirements for guardian home candidates are similar to that of regular purchasers, there are a few additions and added responsibilities that come with the privilege of being a guardian home.
As a guardian, they will be responsible for providing the dog with a happy and healthy life. This includes ensuring that the dog is contained in a fenced-in yard or on a leash, adequately exercised, trained on basic commands, and kept clean and well-groomed.
You will also be responsible for providing basic veterinary care, including yearly wellness visits, vaccines, emergency vet costs, and monthly preventative medications against heart worms, fleas, and ticks.
As a breeding dog guardian, they will also need to be aware of the dog’s estrus cycle and keep all unapproved intact male dogs away from her when she is in season. Additionally, they must provide contact information for kennel and/or petsitter if female is away from guardians care.
We understand that being a guardian home is a big responsibility, but we believe the rewards are immeasurable. We ask that you regularly send photos of the dog and allow us to use them for marketing purposes.
Flair Doodles is the sole decision maker when it comes to skipping a heat or breeding that cycle.
